Psychotherapy for Modern Relationships

What is a Modern Relationship?

Modern relationships are relationships that are reflective of the times we live in now. My practice specializes in adult modern relationship psychotherapy. I see clients 1:1 for individual therapy as well as couples for conscious uncoupling, stepfamily adjustment, and open relationships. I see people in both traditional and non-traditional relationships.

I also see people in both traditional and non-traditional families. “Nontraditional is the new traditional”, Ron Deal. Non-traditional families include single parents, single adult households, cohabitating couples, and stepfamilies; collectively these now outnumber traditional families.

Are you experiencing modern relationship challenges?

Are you struggling with anger, disappointment, disillusionment, grief, disenfranchised grief, guilt, embarrassment, rejection, shame and overall loss due to sudden or chronic relationship changes?

Does it seem like you are often overwhelmed, easily triggered, and flooded with emotion?

Are you struggling with being able to process what you are experiencing, being able to move ahead and enrich your life?

Have you been trying to make decisions about staying or going in your relationship? Are you finding it hard to have difficult conversations?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. I know seeking help can be hard. There is no more virtue in being a helper than there is in asking for help.

I am committed to working with you so that you can obtain the tools and the strategies to achieve your individual goals.

Modern Relationship Therapy

There are many layers of complexity and co-occurring stressors involved in modern relationships. You may be overwhelmed with several relational dynamics happening all at once. An example would be a middle age man in a new dating relationship while going through a protracted divorce who is also experiencing parental alienation and family estrangement. I specialize in aligning with and supporting clients in these and many other types of multi-layered relationships.

Whether you are struggling with managing the individual disappointment and loss that comes with significant relationship changes, managing the individual rebuilding and enrichment process of your life in which relationships will take on new or different meanings, or managing the individual and collective impacts of divorce and significant relationship changes on children, family, and friends-you have found a therapist that will meet you where you are at right now.

I understand no two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to you. We will work together to meet the goals you have for therapy.
